3C @ Robomaniacs
For the Vienna Students’ Parliament, students from the 3C put together a proposal for a “Trash Robot.” As a reward for their creative idea, the class won a free robotics workshop at Robomaniacs in the 3rd District.
Each pair of students got to use a Lego WeDo set, a sensor, and a tablet to build and program a series of increasingly complicated robots. The first project was a rotating windmill. Next, the third-graders made a moving dump truck that could drop different colored Legos into matching color fields. Finally, students designed and programed their own trash trucks that could carry Lego bricks and drive around in their environment.
Everyone had a great time building with Legoes and using the tablets to program them. It was so much fun, no one even noticed how much they were learning!
